      World Autism Awareness Day!!
      Today, April. 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day!! There is not one type of autism. There is a wide spectrum of challenges and strengths possessed by each person with autism. Here at Avalon Karate we promote being different, accepting who you are, and encourage a healthy lifestyle!! Through karate a person on the autism spectrum can develop communication skills, social skills, cognitive skills and so much more!! So join us today in celebrating World Autism Awarness Day and help break down the stigma surrounding not only autism, but around autism in sport as well!!!

      Avalon Karate is pleased to announce that we will be opening up our own new location in the east end of St.John's in the coming months. This location will be a new state of the art training facility specifically for KARATE!! We are very excited for what the future holds and would like to thank you all for your continuous support!!     ​​Karate Canada Nationals 2018

    AVK Athletes Emily Reglar, Chris Coady, Lucas Menard,
    Nathan Miller, Colby Besso, Matthew Whelan, Nathaniel Besso,  and John shea
    ​will all be in Halifax, Nova Scotia this coming weekend representing not only Avalon Karate 
    ​but the province at the National Karate Championships! Sensei Ryan will also be there as Head Coach for
    The Provincial Team! 

    Karate Canada Nationals Results 2018
    After three hard fought days of competeing and cheering, this years national championsips has come to a close. Team NL had a strong performance with two of Avalon Karates very own athletes making their way to the podium! Christopher Coady placed 3rd in his U21 division while Nathaniel Besso placed 3rd in his Senior Division as well as a 2nd place finish in the Team Kumite event!! All our athletes fought their hearts out and left it all on the tatami. They all now look onward with their experience this past weekend and prepare for their next tournement!! Congratulations everyone!!!

    Karate added to the 2023 Canada Winter Games Sport Program!!!
    "Karate Canada is thrilled to have been selected as Host Choice for the 2023 Canada Winter Games,” said Karate Canada President, Craig Vokey. “This will be Karate's first appearance at the Canada Games and we are looking forward to showcasing what the best 16/17-year-old competitors across the country can do.”
